Educate Yourself on Abandoned Dogs, Puppy Mills, and Dog Fighting

download (1).jpeg

When you educate yourself and others about puppy mills, dog fighting, and suffering, it lowers the chance of these things happen. When you know what happens at puppy mills, it makes you and people you tell much less likely to support these for profit, cruel businesses.

When you learn about dogfighting, you can come to recognize signs of illegal fighting rings, or if a dog has been used in dog fighting and report it.

Once you understand more about dog suffering and well being, you can speak for those animals without a voice, and change their lives. It gives you compassion and an understanding of what these dogs have gone through, and millions still go through.

Documentaries, books, and shorts to view

  • "The Champions."     About rescuing and rehabilitating the dogs Michael Vick used in dog fighting.

  • "Kitbull."     A cute, but meaning full Disney short about abused dogs getting a second chance.

  • " A Dog Named 647."     "An action packed, coming of age story featuring the relationship between a 12-year-old girl and a runaway puppy mill dog."

Say NO to Puppy Mills and Breeders!

Puppy Mills

Puppy mills are profit-driven breeding facilities that prioritize financial gain over the health and welfare of the dogs. Many dogs who come from puppy mills are sick and inbred. A mother dog has litter after litter, and her puppies are taken away from her at just 4-6 weeks. At this age, puppies are just transitioning to solid foods. Dogs live in tiny, filthy cages their whole life, and are trained to go to the bathroom in their crates. This makes the puppy almost impossible to potty train and constantly getting sick, breaking the hearts of the families who bought them.

Adopt, Don't Shop

Instead of buying a dog for thousands of dollars from an online or in person breeder, rescue a dog who will be eternally grateful to you for saving their life. When someone buys a dog from a breeder, even if it is not a puppy mill, there are still millions of stray dogs who don't get a home and continue living on the streets because of their purchase. When you buy from puppy mills and breeders, you support inhumane living conditions, psychological and behavioral neglect, and the shelter overpopulation crisis. On the other hand, when you adopt from a rescue or shelter, you support saving lives, giving second chances to abandoned and abused dogs, and medicating/spaying/neutering animals on the streets of developing regions to stop the homelessness cycle of stray animlas.
